SPIN over the moon with Tamworth Co-op cheque

A Tamworth charity which caters for young people with special needs is celebrating a £1,522 windfall from the Tamworth Co-op. SPIN (Special People In Need) is a support group formed in 1988 by a group of parents and carers of young people. It has evolved into a youth club with around 150 members who meet every Wednesday at Tamworth Youth Centre in Spinning School Lane from 7.15pm-9.30pm.

Two gourmet meals featuring the best of British food donated by the Tamworth Co-op will boost a bereavement support group’s efforts to re-establish a base in the town. The annual lunch and dinners organised jointly between Tamworth Co-operative Society and South Staffs College are silver service occasions which help to perfect the skills of catering students.

Fond farewell to Tamworth Co-op board director

The Tamworth Co-op’s recent AGM marked the retirement of the longest serving board director, Mrs Audrey Poulten. She had served on the board for more than 32 years and been chairman on four occasions. Chief executive Julian Coles said Mrs Poulten’s considerable experience would be greatly missed, but he entirely understood her decision to stand down after so many years of exemplary service.

Tamworth Co-op help bereavement group

Tamworth Co-operative Society has boosted the funds of a vital bereavement support group – and is also helping it to establish a base in the town after a gap of several years. Amanda Woodward, Tamworth Co-op’s general funeral manager, this week presented a cheque for £145 to Sue Williams, chair of Cruse South Staffordshire.
